Cold Hands + When And How To Take Photos With The Best Lighting

  Hello Lovelies!
Can you believe January is almost over? I can't. I feel like the new year just started.
Last Monday I shared with you how I build an outfit for blog posts. This week, I thought I would talk about lighting.
When taking pictures outside ( or inside ) you have to have the light coming from the right direction, or the picture will either be washed out or too dark.
Also, you should avoid light coming from the side of your body. What I mean by this is if you were to stand in front of a window and then turn one of your shoulders was facing it instead, the light would come across your face at and angle, giving you really unflattering shadows.
This works the same for outside. I little shadowing is ok, but avoid it if you can.
You also don't want to go in the opposite direction and have full sun streaming into your face. The light will bleach out your features and make the colors you are wearing look distorted. So, unless you are into faded, white looking pictures, steer clear of this.
So, you're looking at your screen saying ' what can I do? ' I'm glad you asked.
When choosing lighting for outdoor pictures, try to pick a place in the shade. If this isn't possible, wait until about two hours before sunset and then take the pictures with the light behind you and at an angle.
My favorite time to take pictures is on cloudy days. Then you can play with the white balance a little.
If you're taking pictures indoors, go to a very well lit room and use the sunlight setting for your white balance.
( If you don't know where that is, turn the dial on the top of your camera to the ' M ' setting. Then, press the button on the bottom of the back of your camera that has a magnifier and plus symbol on it. This should open up the menu for all the manual settings. Go to the one towards the top marked AUTO. This should be your white balance setting. Just scroll down the list till you reach the picture of the sun. This is the white balance you want. )
Once you've set your white balance, change the brightness if you need to and start shooting. I would aim for early morning or late afternoon for these pictures as well.
If the directions above confused you, don't worry. I'll be doing some camera help posts soon.
